Changes Beyond Limits

We are a non-partisan pressure group aiming to hold officials to account and raise awareness to social injustices. Our current project is ‘Freedom for Uighurs’

We are a group of youth activists who seek to put pressure on officials and elected representatives to ensure that social injustices around the world are being brought to light and solved. Our aim is to ensure that the entire, unbiased truth is heard and spread awareness among the public to galvanise grassroots participation and activism.

Our Core Values

Honesty

We aim to be completely honest and transparent with the information we are sharing. We will not censor any of the current injustices happening across the world, and we will truthfully share the extent to which these injustices are faced

Inclusivity

We aim to make the unheard, heard: we want to amplify the voices of the most marginalised in society to ensure that their needs and demands are represented and met

Accountability

We aim to ensure officials are held responsible and use the influence they have for justice, fulfilling their jobs as representatives of the people who have elected them

Raising Awareness

Raising awareness about injustices not only constantly reminds us, but also officials, of the horrors that people live through every day — even if it doesn’t change the world in a day, raising awareness is essential for change

International Justice

We seek to play the role of a global citizen and take responsibility for ensuring that every individual, regardless of their social status or nationality, has their basic human rights upheld and is guaranteed a life worth living

Our current project is #FreedomForUighurs, focused on spreading awareness about the detention camps in the Xinjiang region of China.

What is happening?
The Chinese government has sent more than a million Uighur muslims to re-education camps in an effort to prevent the spread of terrorism. However, evidence shows severe violations of human rights. Hundreds of families demand to see their family members and friends who have been sent to re-education camps and were never heard from again. There are victim accounts of a tyrannical system made to eradicate the Uighur culture and their religion using cruel and excessive force.

Who are the Uighur Muslims?
Uighur Muslims mainly live in the province of Xinjiang, Northwest of China, and are culturally similar to Turkic groups, as opposed to the Han Chinese, the ethnic majority in China. The ethnic majority and the Uighur Muslims have a historic tension due to the separatism of Xinjiang and their ties to closer Turkic regions.

Why are there tensions?
Xinjiang accounts for 40% of China’s coal reserves and over 20% of China’s oil and gas. More recently tensions have heightened because Xinjiang sits in the middle of China’s planned Belt and Road Initiative, important trade links such as fibre optic cables, highways, and pipelines that could be built across Xinjiang could increase China’s global position.
